The Grand Opening

Saturday 17th September

The Grand Opening of the new St John’s Angell Town C of E Primary School.

The Bishop of Southwark officially opened our new school in Angell Town by unveiling a plaque and an original artwork set outside the school’s main entrance.

The afternoon was a chance to tour the school and see St John’s pupil’s dancing and singing. Dignitaries, including Baronness Floella Benjamin and local MP, Helen Hayes, wished the school every success for the future and were very impressed by the new building and the children.

The community garden, near the school, was blessed by the Bishop of Southwark before he opened the school at the main entrance. The children planted flowers in the plant pots in the entrance area.

There was a high tea for all after the official opening.

New School Opening

The wait is over!

Our new school building will be ready for the pupils September 2016.

We have decided to close the school one week earlier than originally planned to allow time to pack and move to the new site. Therefore, school will end for all pupils on Friday 15th July 2016 at 3:30pm.

School will reopen on Monday 12th September 2016 to all pupils starting Years 1 to 6.

Pupils starting in Nursery and Reception classes will be notified separately of their start dates.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents, staff and pupils for their continued patience and support throughout this whole transition. During next week, pupils will be visiting the new site to see the new school and their classrooms. I look forward to welcoming you all into the new building in the new term.

We’re nearly there!

A tour of our new school shows how close the builders are in completing the build.
We started the tour by walking through the new kitchen. Stocked with impressive stainless steel cupboards, worktops and ovens the kitchen looks very hi-tech. A spacious area for serving food then leads to the main hall which is cavernous!

We then went onto visit the staff rooms, the main reception area, the IT room, the science room and all the classrooms.

The stairwells are open and airy and the corridors are so wide you could drive a school bus down them!

We will be moving some of the school furniture over on July 7th and the school will be officially open mid September.

School visits for the children will be organised over the coming weeks so they can take in the surroundings.

The new school building is progressing well

There is a likelihood that we will be unable to move into the new building until around mid June 2016.

We are liaising with the Local Authority and will be able to have a definite date for moving during next term (Term 5).

In the likely event that we will have to move over the summer period, this will mean a change in the end of term closure dates (i.e 2 weeks before scheduled summer break).

Families will be notified in writing and information will be posted on the school website as soon as a decision is made.
